ickstart Arts Incorporated is a health promoting charity, using community arts and cultural development as a means for the improvement of health and wellbeing of Tasmanians. Kickstart Arts is distinctive in the broader cultural landscape. We occupy a site of significant trauma, 200 year old orphanage buildings that were used to house the children taken from convicts and First Nations families. We are unique because of our desire to ‘turn the story around’ and create a place of vibrancy and celebration while acknowledging and honouring the past. We are a health and wellbeing charity using art as the means to help people live a good life. Our programs, places and support actively contribute to significant social, health and wellbeing outcomes for Tasmanians.
